   From October 8 to 10, 2012 the head of the service of restoration and binding Vershina E.Yu. participated in the regional thematic training  of UNESCO/ICOM for the museum specialists of the countries of the CIS “Preventive conservation – the main factor for the preservation of museum collections: the manuscript fonds” (Erevan city, Armenia).

   The regional thematic training is the continuation of the cycle of national and regional trainings of UNESCO/ICOM carried out with the support of UNESCO and IFHC for the countries of the CIS in 2008-2011.

   There at the seminar were discussed the following issues:
• The preventive conservation and individual packaging for archival documents and books;
• The initial treatment of documents from dust and mildew as preventive measure for protection of documents from destruction;
• The detection of biodamages as exemplified by the archival documents of Matenadaran and their conserv ation.

The modern technologies for the preservation and revival of the manuscript and printed heritage” Erevan city (Armenia).
